What we look for
Every business featured on Houston Local Advantage goes through a basic review process. Here's what we evaluate before inclusion.
Serve the Houston area
The business is actively serving homeowners or businesses within the Greater Houston metro area.
Have a professional online presence
They maintain a website, social media, or other professional channels where customers can learn more about them.
Maintain a strong reputation with customers
They consistently earn positive feedback from real customers on platforms like Google, Yelp, and other review sites.
Demonstrate expertise in their field
They show clear knowledge, certifications, licensing, or years of experience that back up their work quality.
Have a history of serving local homeowners or businesses
They are established enough to have a track record of completed jobs and satisfied clients in the community.
Be willing to provide accurate business information
They are transparent about their services, pricing, availability, and contact details so we can present them accurately.
Review and rating standards
When sufficient public reviews are available, we generally look for businesses that maintain a rating of 4.5 stars or higher across major review platforms.
Ratings are not the only factor — we also consider the quality and recency of reviews, how the business responds to feedback, and their overall reputation in the Houston community.
Not every great business has hundreds of reviews. For newer or smaller businesses, we weigh other signals like portfolio quality, professional credentials, and customer references more heavily.
No pay-to-play inclusion
Being featured on Houston Local Advantage is not something you can buy. Businesses may not pay for placement, and we do not accept compensation in exchange for positive coverage.
Sponsored or paid content, when it exists, is always clearly labeled. Our goal is to give Houston homeowners honest, useful recommendations — not disguised advertisements.
